I’ve heard someone thought people with Downs Syndrome tend to be mean. My experience says that is anything but true.. Everyone I meet who has this is sweet, kind of like a kid who never grows up. We always talk about how challenges of having a special needs sibling.

Today I’ve found an article where the author is talking about some of the blessings of having a Downs Syndrome brother. Let’s take a look.

She says she never felt like her brother got more attention than she did. She says that she does remember doing things to get her parents’ attention sometimes.

She says she and her sisters included their brother without really being asked. They did this because they wanted to, not because they had to.

When we travel, a lot of us are looking for fun and excitement. You will want to think through how much stimulation is good for your special needs child. Consider taking earphones if your special needs child tends to get over stimulated. And you also want to be sure to take time to relax. Hang out by the pool. Binge your favorite movies.

You want to bring some of your special needs child’s favorite things. Bring their favorite toys, especially the ones you know bring them comfort. And you will also want to bring their favorite snacks.

Sadly it’s very common for those who have problems seeing and hearing. And this is especially true as they get older. They are also more likely to develop sleep apnea. They may snore or grind their teeth which may mean they are often tired.

They are also more likely to have problems with their thyroid. They will need to see doctors pretty regularly because of all these things that might develop.
